Coptic Egyptian Head with Animal Headdress

Description

Copper Alloy hollow cast human head with long hair and stylised animal for headdress. The animals muzzle has an opening which makes this part of some form of vessel and this was the decorative spout. Traces of gilt across the object especially to the rear. Acquired previously in Jerusalem Israel. Presented on a custom display stand.

Circa 7th to 10th Century AD.  Egypt/Northern Africa
